Roma, 24 giu. (askanews) – For the third episode of its brand new interview series ‘EU Verified’ Askanews sat down with BECA Committee Shadow Rapporteur, MEP Peter Liese. A former doctor, Liese has emerged as one of the European People’s Party’s key opinion leaders on Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan

 Liese spoke to us at length about the EPP’s main priorities in the fight against cancer. These include increasing funding for cancer research programmes, reducing the burden of lifestyle choices such as tobacco-related cancer deaths through the promotion of alternative harm-reduction products, and ensuring all cancer survivors enjoy the right to be forgotten. He also discussed the EPP’s plans for ensuring Europe never again faces critical pharmaceutical shortages by ensuring there are manufacturing bases in Europe.
